2024 Book List

Lowest book count in many years. I guess parenting a toddler has really caught up to me! Lotta 3-stars this year, though. Either/Or, Intermezzo, Demon Copperhead, All Fours, A Long Petal of the Sea, and Circe all just blew me away. I especially keep thinking about the grief portrayed in Intermezzo, and the America portrayed in Demon Copperhead. The Hunter was barely a murder mystery and still one of my absolute favorites this year - I really just love Tana French’s writing. Sam Irby’s Quietly Hostile was my favorite of hers thus far. Neal Stephenson was fun as usual and Snow Crash was a wild adventure that sometimes felt a little too real. Bright and Ceremony were both completely unknown to me previously so they were really great finds about entirely different cultures and stories (thanks, Molly and a random bookseller at the Brooklyn Book Festival in 2022). The Goodbye Cat was a beautiful read for anyone who loves cats, and The Ministry of Time was a delightful time travel love story (it’s hard to go wrong with that). A few on the list seemed to be really popular but just didn’t do it for me, but that’s what makes horseraces. Hopefully I’ll get more books under my belt this year! Happy belated New Year.
